Ahoy Folks,

As the season develops and CV-19 continues to loom, we need to reassess our sailing program for this season. The following thoughts:
1.   The use of race committee and safety boats can be considered inconsistent with safe distancing practices, both because of vessel occupancy and the role of safety boats in contacting rescuees. Proposed use of JP for conducting races is becoming questionable because of increasingly heavy beach and boater traffic on weekends. In addition, the local weather frequently doesn’t cooperate with our plans.
2.   We want to line up safety boat coverage for the remainder of the season. (Race and sailabout events are listed on the website.)  Members interested please contact the commodore,  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . Meantime, the commodore will be contacting past safety boat skippers.
3.   When we are able to recommence formal racing, we will need to have committee boats and personnel (operator, SRO, signaler, timer). There are members with experience on committee and we will be contacting them. Please remind us if you’re not contacted. Meantime, if any member is interested in learning to conduct sailboat racing, please contact the commodore,  This email address is being protected from spambots.
