As a matter of convenience and efficiency. Completing the online form automatically notifies the leadership that you have renewed your membership. Additionally, it automatically adds your information to a central database. Having a central database means that those officers who have access to it will always have current and accurate information on you. Communications to the entire membership via emails can be facilitated with a few key strokes.
There are other possible benefits which the Webmaster is exploring, some of which would be directly available to the general membership. As they are activated, notification will be posted on the site.
